Mindi is a traditional trick-taking card game originating from India, where it enjoys considerable popularity. The dealer shuffles and distributes 13 cards to each player. The game can operate in two modes:

• Hide Mode: The player to the dealer’s right selects a card face down to establish the trump suit for that hand.
• Cut Mode: Play begins without designated trump; if a player cannot follow suit, their chosen card determines the trump for that deal.

Once a trump suit is established, the highest card in that suit played during each trick wins. If no trump has been played in a trick, the highest card of the suit led prevails. The winner of each trick leads the next. Captured tricks are collected in face-down piles by the winning players.

After all 13 tricks are completed, the captured cards are assessed to determine the hand's outcome. The primary goal is for one partnership to capture three or four Tens; securing all four Tens results in a special win known as Mendicot. Achieving victory in every trick constitutes a Fifty-Two Card Mendicot.

Scoring involves awarding one game point per won hand; the first partnership to reach five points is declared the overall winner. Mindi continues to be a culturally significant pastime in India, often played leisurely among families and friends for hours.
